All Proceeds Will Be Donated to Doctors Without Borders
Los Angeles, Calif. (January 26, 2010) In the wake of the recent tragedy in Haiti, The J Spot Comedy Club is pleased to announce will host, COMICS FOR HAITI Benefit, Sunday, January 31. This emergency relief benefit will be hosted by comedian Mark Prince and feature performances by many of today's top comedians, in effort to generate funds to the relief efforts for Haiti. Just as Bill Cosby once said "Through humor, you can soften some of the worst blows that life delivers, and once you find laughter no matter how painful your situation might be, you can survive it". With the recent catastrophic earthquake that rocked the small island of Haiti, this quote rings loud and clear not only to its people, but to the entire world. This is an event that should not be missed, full of fantastic music, comedy, and spoken word, all for an amazing cause. The benefit will be held Sunday, January 31st at THE J SPOT, located at 5581 W. Manchester Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90045. Doors open at 7:00 pm; Show begins at 8:00 pm.
The current line up for the COMIC FOR HAITI Benefit includes famed comedians such as, actor/comedian Mark Curry (Hangin With Mr. Cooper), Tommy Davidson (In Living Color), J. Anthony Brown (Drumline, The Hughleys, Moesha), Chris Spencer (The Jaime Foxx Show), AJ Jamal (Def Comedy Jam), Shang Forbes, Cocoa Brown, Jay Phillips, Pierre, Derrick Ellis, Brandon Bowlin, Ron G, Jackie-Fabulous Champagnie, Skillz Hudson, Akil West, Daugne Keith, CStorm Rone, Mooney Twins, Ocean Glapion, Tony Baker, Willie Macc and more the list is growing!
Admission to the COMICS FOR HAITI Benefit will be "pay what you can," in hopes to inspire generous donations with 100% of all proceeds going to the international humanitarian aid group Doctors Without Borders. Doctors Without Borders has maintained a presence in Haiti for years. When the earthquake strucked the organization lost all three for their facilities, but was fortunate enough to use temporary quarters to provide aid to the injured.
