Members of Cypress Hill, Kottonmouth Kings and Dirtball Comment On Covering Their Favorite Hip-Hop Classics

Subnoize Souljaz have streamed their entire new album "Blasts From The Past" online at www.myspace.com/subnoizesouljaz. The album features the entire Sub Noize battalion covering classic Hip-Hop tracks including covers of NWA, Snoop Dogg, Public Enemy, LL Cool J and 2Pac. The album will hit stores on August 25th, 2009 through Suburban Noize Records.

"I think this was an important record for us to get out to fans, because it shows the roots of the underground and where a lot of the groups on the album came from," says Brad X from Kottonmouth Kings. "There wouldn't be a Kottonmouth Kings if groups like NWA and Public Enemy hadn't paved the way for us to be here. All the songs on this record are classic tracks that have stood the test of time and still sound as relevant today as they did when they were originally released."

"Suburban Noize has created a cool roster of underground of artists. It's cool to see them showing respect to the elders of Hip-Hop by putting this project together," added Sen Dog from Cypress Hill. "This album will expose a whole generation of new underground kids to the some of the classic Hip-Hop artists that they might not otherwise have heard before. For me, it was an honor to track Chuck D and Flav's joint 'Bring The Noise' for this album."

"When I found out we were doing this 'Blast from the Past' record, I was pumped!  Not many Rappers get a chance to re-create their favorite old school jams," commented Dirtball. "I jumped on the chance to do Rakim's 'Microphone Fiend'.  I have been a fan of Erik B and Rakim since back in the day, and it was a pleasure stepping into the booth and transporting back in time with this rhyme.  Bring back the real Rap!"
