Disney Star Daniel Curtis Lee Signs on to Perform
August 26, 2009 – MLK Park teams up with GAP (Grandparents As Parents) for a celebrity back to school drive on August 29th, 2009 at the MLK Park in Los Angeles, California. GAP, a non-for-profit organization, provides programs and services that meet the urgent and on going needs of grandparents and other relatives raising at-risk children. Assemblyman Mike Davis, cast members from the television hit series "The Game," along with Vanessa Simmons and Angela Simmons of MTV's "Daddy's Girls," have volunteered their time to hand out back packs and gift bags filled with back-to-school items to all the children.
This free festival hosted by Raz B (B2K), will also feature a live performance by DANIEL CURTIS LEE aka "DAN-D" of Disney's "Zeke & Luther," as well as other invited celebrity guests. There will be fun games, free giveaways, safety tips and everything needy parents and grandparents will need to get kids ready for school! Also available will be health mobile trucks, free blood pressure screenings, immunizations and diabetes testing. Festivities kick off at 12 noon and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is also expected to attend.

Grandparents as Parents, Inc. (GAP), was founded in 1987 by Ms. Sylvie de Toledo, LCSW, as a grassroots reaction to the rising tide of abandoned children created by the drug epidemic. GAP currently serves approximately 1000 relative caregivers, 90 percent of them grandparents and the children they are raising.
