Valentine's Day Release Date
DALLAS (January 1, 2010) — Independent artist, writer and producer Johnny Roulette has created a collection of songs that displays the range of emotions a man finds himself cycling through in love and relationships. "S.H.E. (Showing His Emotions)" explores themes of trust, fidelity and the buildup and the breakdown of the bond between two people.
Relying on straightforward lyrics without braggadocio, Roulette samples classic songs (Eddie Kendricks of The Temptations, "The Newness Is Gone") and pop music (No Doubt, "Don't Speak"; Fleetwood Mac, "Little Lies") and aims to show his skills as a lyricist, producer and overall artist. His aim was to create the feeling of a movie in the listener's imagination, where one song seamlessly leads into the next.
Roulette, born Jeff Robertson, developed his skills in California, Philadelphia and Dallas, TX in several capacities, including as an Urban Marketing rep at SonyBMG and at Maximedia Studios as an assistant and session engineer. He has worked with a range of artists and production teams, including:
• George Clinton – Tour Promoter
• Royal Court (Timbaland Productions) – Session Engineer
• Nocturnal – Session Engineer
• Rush Films – Sound Design
• First Flock Pictures – Film Score
• Various independent artists throughout the U.S. – Production
After 10 years of writing and production, Roulette produced the album as a personal creative endeavor.
"It's a concept album; listeners need to set aside an hour to truly experience "S.H.E." Explore the lyrics, the album artwork, my point of view. I think they'll hear a familiar story of the ups and downs of a relationship," Roulette says of the project.
