Willz of San Francisco's Bay Area and K- R.O.K. of Virginia Beach, VA have joined lyrical forces to produce their 14- track collaborative mixtape, From The Bay to VA… The Future is Here now available for FREE download. To appeal to multiple audiences two singles, "How We Do It" and "Desert Rose" will be released to radio shortly.
From The Bay to VA… The Future is Here is a refreshing sound of well delivered lyrics, versatility and a mixture of club and true Hip Hop tracks hand picked by both artists. The mixtape also premiers "San Quinn," an unreleased track from legendary producer Teddy Riley. The collaboration came to life after the duo proposed ideas for making a mark in the music business. "The mixtape is to promote us as new artists and trendsetters. We both have taken risks before, so we took the ultimate plunge and that was to merge the sounds of two very distinctive coastal Rappers on a whole album," explains K- R.O.K.
D. Willz adds, "The music we create is fun anyway. We stayed consistent with our style and recorded a mixtape for the car to the club no matter where you are from. Since the upload of From The Bay to VA on Thursday, [May 7, 2009] there has been a total of 11,672 downloads. I know that it is well received!"
ABOUT THE ARTISTS
D. Willz started Rapping at eight years old. He started a group shortly after in 1998 called The Big Bang Theory. Growing apart from the group, he went solo and released Welcome to Willzville. The album gained much success with the release of his single "Licka Sto," in 2008, which premiered on MTV Jamz, BillBoard.com, and Fuze on Demand. 'Licka Sto' was named "The Most Requested Song" by Chuy Gomez of KMEL 106.1 FM. Other popular singles released include 'Purpz,' 'Put it in The Middle' and 'Skin Tight Jeans.'
K- R.O.K. began his career in 1999 under the influence of the local celebrities Teddy Riley and N.E.R.D. Although he took a break for married life and parenthood, he continued to pen and study the music industry. He returned with fresh ideas for the studio and his campaign, which he references "The Movement." Recording numerous tracks, he began to book himself for small venues in California in 2008.
