NYOIL now accepting submissions for his "Father Father: Seasons of a Man" Coffee Table Book
March 26, 2009, New York, NY – Inspired by the overwhelming number of pictures he received for inclusion in his "Father, Father" video, NYOIL is currently putting together a coffee table book titled "Father Father: Seasons of a Man", which will be available in time for Father's Day.
Produced by DJ Green Lantern, NYOIL's "Father Father" samples Marvin Gaye's classic hit "What's Going On" and features the voice of Barack Obama giving his now classic speech on Fatherhood during the historic 2008 Presidential election. The song was originally put together for the Russell Simmons sponsored Barack Obama mixtape, hosted by Green Lantern. When the track did not make the final cut for the mixtape, NYOIL decided to create a viral video for the song and asked his fans, friends and supporters to send "Father" pictures of either themselves with their kids or of their own fathers for inclusion. When sending their pictures, many people were compelled to tell NYOIL the story of what was depicted, inspiring NYOIL to take the idea a step further and create the "Father Father: Seasons of a Man" coffee table book.
Already committed to contribute to the book are Legendary Hip Hop artist Kangol Kid from UTFO, Actor Richard Roundtree, and the son of Soul Musician Isaac Hayes, Music Producer Ike Dirty who will be writing about his Oscar and Grammy Award winning father. The final list of contributors will be announced on April 6th and will include celebrities, intellectuals, and other prominent individuals along with "regular joes".
"To have the support on a project like this from people like Richard Roundtree, Kangol and Ike Hayes, III means a great deal. Besides my admiration and respect for each of these men as artists, for them to share such an intimate portion of their lives, and in some cases the very last vestibule of their privacy is an awesome honor. Even more importantly, it speaks to the value of this project because celebrity fades but the value and influence of good Fathers will endure for generations. Therefore, it is as important to me to have celebrities involved with the book (for all the obvious reasons) as it is to have the average man on to the project to give it the honest and sincere edge that it needs to be an important and enduring text. Fatherhood is a subject that must be discussed!", remarked NYOIL.
