Oprah Winfrey made a great leap of faith very early on in Barack Obama’s political life to offer her support and her endorsement. It is reported that some of her local followers on The Oprah Winfrey show, Oprah were annoyed that she became political to the extent of endorsing a candidate. This resulted in a decline in the show’s ratings.
Oprah drew further criticism for not wanting to interview Sarah Palin when she was surprising picked as John McCain’s vice-presidential candidate. Oprah insisted that she had long decided not to use her show as a political platform for either candidate and she stuck with her decision.
At the Chicago rally that Oprah attended to hear Barack’s victory speech she was seen crying and leaning on the shoulder of a perfect stranger. She asked Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am to describe how he felt when Obama walked on stage.
Will.i.am said he couldn’t explain it in words but that he thought of all the people that paved the way for the moment that we have now all witnessed.
True to his words, Black Eyed Peas frontman, will.i.am has penned a song to celebrate President-elect Obama’s victory. The lyrics of this new song is: “It’s a New Day” – the new pop song continues: “I woke up this morning, feeling brand new/Cuz the dreams that I’ve been dreaming has finally come true”.
The Grammy-winning artist, will.i.am performed the new pop song on Oprah’s show today while the new music video played on a giant screen behind him featuring photos of Obama, his family, Winfrey, Rev. Jesse Jackson and black and white snapshots of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Harriet Tubman.
Everyone expects that Barack Obama’s election to the highest office in the land will usher in a new attitude amongst rappers, hip hop culture and rap music fans to demand new rap songs that offer the same hope that inspired this nation to vote for change.

Some people say that hip hop culture is anti-gay but I love this Obama song from will.i.am.
