It’s been a few years since the government took a herculean bite out of the mixtape industry with the arrest of DJ Drama. Since that time DJ’s across the country have been trying to resuscitate the genre’s importance. Just ask DJ PCutta, the man behind the Streetwars Mixtapes. But for P, the story stretches way beyond the mission of getting the game back on its feet thanks to his own circumstances.

Two and a half years ago while the Hip Hop world was in chaos, and the media was still trying to persuade listeners that Hip Hop was dead, PCutta’s new home away from home was the Johns Hopkins Hospital. The renowned DJ suffered a dangerous laceration to his left wrist, damaging his nerves in his arm and the vital movement in his fingers. “I didn’t think I was going to be able to use my hand again. I cut a tendon and a major artery. I basically prepared myself to function without my hand for the rest of my life,” PCutta said.

P was facing permanent disability and permanent bereavement to the mix tape game. The entrepreneur, had to give up his love child “Hip Hop” and commit to his other investments in order to maintain stability. P’s record store at the time Blazed Music, and Multimedia company MPIII Enterprises kept him afloat during his troubled time, now Rooftop Records music store is where u can find PCutta. But for the Streetwars chief, it only took a year before his first appearance behind the turn tables in the DC nightclub Bar Nun. Cutta’s mixtape appearance was not as occasional but was an inconsistent reciprocation. “It was a struggle coming back into the game. I had to deal with new people, new distributors and new rules. But I knew it was a lot of hungry mixtape fans out there. I’m what the game been missing,” P said.

Although P’s wrist injury isn’t completely revitalized; the mixtape king is proving his loyalty to the game returning with the new installment of Streetwars Vol. 22, set to drop March 10th 2009. The drought is not over for the mixtape fiends. It’s been a few years since the streets have felt the reverberation of a Street Wars classic and P said the Hip Hop heads need to prepare for combat. “I am reinventing myself. People can expect a change in everything from the appearance to the album cover, to the style of the mixes, to the people I surround myself with. I also have an album compilation that I have been working on for a few years now. I’m rejuvenated and hungry,” P said.

Inspired by Capcom’s New Video Game & Movie Release “Street Fighter” PCutta hopes to spark some controversy in the Hip Hop & mixtape game with his latest release. For those who tend to shy away from aggressive Hip Hop, P Cutta wants to remind you that Hip Hop was built on competition and the competitive nature of Hip Hop should be embraced since it is its foundation. “It is not practical to think every battle is going to end up in tragedy their not, I need people to understand & respect underground Hip Hop as it is a big part of Hip Hop because that popcorn sh*t you hear on the radio is wack and doesn’t define the struggle of a generation in a recession, ” P said. The streets of New York set the stage for the latest lyrical scuffle. Queen’s Rapper “50 Cent” exchanges bars with Miami Boss “Rick Ross” in an ongoing conflict, and 50 is trying hard to end Ross’s career. Once again Joe Budden is feuding with Saigon for what reason, listen and see. Even Bow Wow engages in some sparring rift with Rapper & producer Soulja Boy. And the new comer, New York’s own “Five” from Stone World Music is set to feature with DJ PCutta and provide his own opinions & comments about the drama between these artists. He introduces his Goon Regime squad and addresses some beef of his own. . It’s a perfect fit says P Cutta, I have relationships with a lot of industry heavyweights as well as established artists so I usually don’t let new artists host Street Wars, but I’ve seen Five’s movement in the streets first hand and one of a DJ’s jobs is to support new blood so I reached out “. The streets are eagerly waiting the DJ’s 22nd installment of the famed Street Wars collection, beef, battles & drama.
